Some in the Corinthian congregation treated the Lord’s Supper as their supper. They failed to recognize the presence of the body and blood of Christ together with the bread and wine in the Lord’s Supper. To receive the Lord’s Supper is to receive something higher than ourselves and worthy of our reverence.
